Jurors:

Dow Benedict

Dow Benedict is a native of Missouri and has been a faculty member in the Department of Art at Shepherd University since 1971. He is currently the Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities. A sculptor, he earned his undergraduate degree in Painting and holds graduate degrees in both sculpture and printmaking. Benedict exhibits his work internationally and has served as a juror for many years.

Sonya Evanisko

Sonya received her B.F.A from Indiana University of PA and her M.F.A. from Indiana State University. In addition to being a producing artist, Sonya chairs the Dept. of Art and coordinates the Painting and Drawing program at Shepherd University. She has exhibited her work at many regional and national exhibitions, and her work was featured in the 1998 edition of New American Paintings published by The Open Studios Press.

Jury Procedure
All work submitted for jury consideration must be original and created by the artist.  Artists will remain anonymous in the jury process.  Festival assistants will be handling the applications for each artist, and names will not be disclosed to jurors.  Each artist who submits a festival application will be notified of the receipt of his or her application via email or phone call.  All applicants will be notified by mail about their acceptance into the Festival. Acceptance results will be mailed on May 18th. 

 
Awards
Awards will be presented to Artists at the Festival Fundraiser Reception for best exhibit and best example of art in harmony with nature.



The Potomac Arts Festival is a fundraising event for the evironmental education programs of thePotomac Valley Audubon Society, a local non-profit organization now celebrating its 25th anniversary.
