When: Saturday October 25

Time: Tour of the Park begins at 5:00 PM;         Astronomy Program begins at 7:00 PM

Cost: Park entrance fees are $3.00 for Maryland state vehicles and $5.00 for out of state vehicles. The PVAS guided tour and the Fort Frederick Astronomy Program are free of charge.

Join Park Naturalist and local Potomac Valley Master Naturalist, Charles Sullivan, for an evening of fun, learning and exploration at Fort Frederick State Park. 

Meet Mr. Sullivan at 5:00 at the Visitors Center for a guided tour of Fort Frederick. 

Debbie Maiorano, Potomac Valley Master Naturalist, is hosting this event and will be present to help with any logistical questions as well as to welcome all registered guests. 

Registration is strongly encouraged. Registration allows for the trip leaders to plan accordingly for the guided tour.

Please know that the Visitors Center is a 5 minute walk from the parking lot by the Fort.

The Astronomy Program is a public event offered by Fort Fredrick State Park. This program begins at 7:00 PM and all are welcome to join.

Astronomy Program
October 25 – 7:00 p.m.

Join Fort Frederick park naturalist for an evening of star gazing and sky navigation. Visitors will learn the basics of sky navigation and telescope use while looking through our 10 inch Dobsonian reflecting telescope. Visitors are welcome to bring their own viewing devices as well. 

In the case of clouds or rain an indoor program will be offered. Park entrance fees are $3.00 for Maryland state vehicles and $5.00 for out of state vehicles.

Program last for approximately 2 hours. Children welcomed. 

Dress warmly as event is held outdoors by the Fort. Bring a lawn chair, flashlight, and if desired, a blanket, snacks, and warm drinks.

As you enter the park, the Fort is on the left hand side. There is parking by the Fort.

Directions: Take I-70 18 miles west of Hagerstown to Route 56 (Exit 12). Take Route 56 and one mile south to park entrance near Big Pool. Drive time about 35 minutes from Martinsburg,
