Join the Potomac Valley Audubon Society on Wednesday, September 9th at 7:00 PM for our regular monthly program.

Dr. Diana Gaviria, Health Officer with the Berkeley County Health Dept. and Jennifer Beamer Huston, the Departments Sanitarian Supervisor, will present on the threats posed locally to public health by mosquitoes and ticks.

Dr. Gaviria will discuss the epidemiology, symptoms and treatments of mosquito- and tick-borne diseases in West Virginia, including West Nile Virus, Lyme disease, Rock Mountain Spotted Fever, and others. 

Ms. Hutson will review the State of West Virginia's Mosquito and Tick Surveillance Program, and steps citizens can take to guard their families and pets from mosquito and tick bites.

Admission is free, no registration is needed and everyone is welcome to attend.

From WV Route 9, take the Short Road exit. If traveling east, take a left off the exit. If traveling west, take a right off the exit. Follow to the stop light at Sheetz.  Turn right. Take the next left across from Food Lion onto Hospice Lane. Follow the road back.

The office will be on your left (the inpatient will be on your right). The door to enter for the PVAS Program is to the right of the main office door. We will have a sign on the door.
