Join PVAS for a fascinating tour where we will see how a wide range of waste materials are recycled through composting.

The tour is a fully outdoor walking tour and will cover about a mile in distance.  Please dress for the weather. Rain date: 4/16/16

Since there is potentially dangerous farm equipment at the tour site, this tour is not suitable for children under the age of six.

The Tabb family farm is in its fifth generation.  The farm operations include raising antibiotic-free beef, and recycling of yard trimmings, manure and wood waste, and food scraps.

Recycling has been Mr. Tabb's passion since 1990. His farm has several composting features.  We will see how raw materials from construction sites are used to produce animal bedding.  They also use trees and tree stumps to mix into compost and is then used for topsoil.  Kitchen food scraps from the Veterans Administration hospital in Martinsburg are sent to the farm for composing saving hundreds of pounds of food waste from landfills.
