When: Sunday, October 16, 2016

Time: 8:00 a.m.

PVAS Trip Leader: Steve Hartman

Help Steve Hartman celebrate his birthday as he leads a Nature Walk at Stauffer's Marsh.

His birthday walk will focus on the flora and fauna of Stauffer's Marsh. Enjoy the beauty of the marsh while looking at the plants, trees and birds. The birds likely to be seen will include various fall migrants.

This event is open to the public and everyone is welcome regardless of their birding skills, however registration is strongly encouraged.

Participants should meet in the parking area at the north end of the Marsh.  The Preserve is located in Back Creek Valley, one-half mile south of Shanghai, on the east side of Back Creek Valley Road
(County Route 7).

The preserve is only 46 acres in size, so the distances to be walked are not great.  However, the terrain will include wet meadows and marshlands, as well as dry areas, so waterproof footwear is strongly recommended.

Participants should dress appropriately for the prevailing weather and bring along drinking water. Because ticks can be a problem at the Marsh, bug spray is recommended.

Binoculars will be available for anyone who needs them.
