Yankauer Nature Preserve is a favorite community center for student groups, families and nature enthusiasts alike. Maintenance work is necessary to ensure that Yankauer continues to be safely enjoyed by the public. Your help is appreciated as we work together to clear the hiking trails, remove invasive species and enhance winter habitat for local wildlife. Every pair of hands helps make a difference!

All necessary tools  and some snacks will be provided. Bathrooms and water to refill your water bottle will also be available. Please bring a refillable water bottle.

We will be working to clear trails so that they are user-friendly. Additionally, we will be doing some invasive weed management and building habitat brush piles.

Participants may also volunteer to remove the invasive Autumn Olive trees. This work will be led by Eldon Winston, who is a certified herbicide applicator. Eldon will give training to teach others and give technical practice on how to manage invasive species. Participants who do this work should dress accordingly (eyewear, waterproof gloves and shoes, long pants and sleeves).
