MLK Jr. Day, Service Event at Cool Spring Preserve

Join us for a day of service to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day! Learn about invasive climbing vines, how they impact native habitat and what techniques best control them. Gather among friends for some hot coffee, cocoa, tea and cookies while we complete some trail maintenance work at Cool Spring Preserve.

Location: Cool Spring Preserve is located at 1469 Lloyd Rd., Charles Town, WV.  The entrance is at the T-intersection of Wheatland Rd. and Lloyd. Please park in the lot in front of the red PVAS building. 

Cool Spring Preserve protects native habitat for local flora and fauna along the Bullskin Run watershed. Maintenance work and invasive species removal is necessary to promote high quality native habitat at Cool Spring Preserve.  Your help is appreciated as we work together to clear invasive species and enhance habitat for local wildlife. Every pair of hands helps make a difference! 

All necessary training, tools, gloves will be provided. Light refreshments will also be available. Cool Spring Preserve has indoor bathrooms and water to refill your water bottle. Please bring a refillable water bottle. 

We will be learning about invasive climbing plants, how to identify them, how they impact our native habitats and what techniques best control them. Informational handouts will be supplied, and then we will hit the trails in guided groups and get to work removing invasive climbing plants.
