Two varieties of milkweed will be sold - Butterfly Weed and Swamp Milkweed.  The City of Hagerstown is sponsoring the milkweed sale.

In addition to the sale, The Monarch Alliance will be educating the public on the monarch’s migration and its life cycle.  We will also have information on how to create your own monarch waystation or butterfly garden.  Experts will be on hand to answer your questions.  The Monarch Alliance will also have a number of exciting children’s activities, including face painting, coloring, monarch stickers, life cycle models and more.  A feature of this year’s events will be monarch caterpillars.

All purchases must be made online at and purchases may be picked up the day of the event.

The following week on May 27, The Monarch Alliance will hold its annual perennial plant sale at Sunny Meadows Garden Center, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The monarch waystation at Kiwanis Park should start to bloom for the festival.  If you have not been to it, it is time to go see it.
