Tagging Leader: Sandy Sagalkin

September is the month that most monarchs will migrate through our region on the way to Mexico where they will spend the winter. The Monarch Alliance, a program of the Potomac Valley Audubon Society, will be sponsoring activities during the month of September to celebrate this special event.

Join Sandy on September 9, at the Antietam National Battlefield, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.  Participants should meet at the Burnside Bridge Parking Area. From there, Sandy will teach and help guide participants on the process of tagging monarchs.

To get to Burnside Bridge:  coming from Sharpsburg, turn right at Rodman, turn left at the “T” and drive up to the parking area.

The Monarch Discovery Day events will be free and open to anyone with an interest.  Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult.

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged but not required.  In the event of cancellation, notice will be posted on the PVAS site by 9 p.m. the night before the event.
