September is the month that most monarchs will migrate through our region on the way to Mexico where they will spend the winter. The Monarch Alliance, a program of the Potomac Valley Audubon Society, will be sponsoring activities during the month of September to celebrate this special event.

Join Steve Hartman on September 2, at Stauffer's Marsh Nature Preserve, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Participants should meet at the preserve parking area. From there, Steve will teach and help guide participants on the process of tagging monarchs.

The Stauffer's Marsh Nature Preserve is located across from 4069 Back Creek Road, Hedgesville, WV.

The Monarch Discovery Day events will be free and open to anyone with an interest.  Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult.

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged but not required.  In the event of cancellation, notice will be posted on the PVAS site by 9 p.m. the night before the event.
