Time: 12 PM - 3 PM

Tagging Leader: Joette Borzik

September is the month that most monarchs will migrate through our region on the way to Mexico where they will spend the winter. The Monarch Alliance, a program of the Potomac Valley Audubon Society, will be sponsoring activities during the month of September to celebrate this special event.

Join Joette Borzik on September 10, at the Briggs Animal Adoption Center (the Shelter will also be open for adoptions at this time) from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Participants should meet Joette in the center's parking lot. From there, Joette will teach and help guide participants on the process of tagging monarchs.

Directions to the Center: from Charles Town, WV, take 340 South towards Berryville for approximately 5.4 miles.  The Briggs Animal Adoption Center will be on the right (0.25 mile after the dual highway narrows down to a double lane road.)

The Monarch Discovery Day events will be free and open to anyone with an interest.  Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult.

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged but not required.  In the event of cancellation, notice will be posted on the PVAS site by 9 p.m. the night before the event.
