Explore the plants and wildflowers of the beautiful Eidolon Nature Preserve! Join us as we walk the trails in search of wildflowers and plants and perhaps a redbud or two!

Dr. Stritch will be leading this walk. He is recently retired from the U.S. Forest Service where he worked as a botanist for 30 years. He is an expert in native plant identification, propagation, and gardening with native plants. He is also an expert in pollination ecology and recently served as staff to President Obama's Pollinator Health Task Force where he helped author the National Strategy to Promote the Health of Honey Beens and Other Pollinators and Pollinator Friendly Best Management Practices for Federal Lands. In addition, he has served on the Federal Interagency Monarch High Level Working Group.

Just prior to the wildflower walk, Dr. Stitch will present a program on Spring Wildflowers of the Eastern Panhandle. His talk is scheduled from 10 - 11 am at the Morgan County Board of Education Office. More details here:

Location: Eidolon Nature Preserve, 2146 Orleans Rd, Great Cacapon, WV 25422. The entrance is very discreet, with just two short stone pillars holding the teal front gate. There is a sign on a tree near the entrance declaring Eidolon is a public preserve.

If you are joining us for both the presentation and the walk, please bring a picnic lunch to enjoy between the presentation and the walk. Remember a refillable water bottle, sturdy walking shoes and any accessories that will help you stay comfortable (sun wear, bug spray, hats, etc) while you walk the trails at Eidolon.

Both the Wildflower Walk and the Spring Wildflowers of the Eastern Panhandle talk are free and open to the public, however registration for the walk is appreciated.
