  • This is Miss Chanda's homeschool hike at Eidolon Preserve, lead by Miss Bridget Tinsley. Our focus will be forrest ecology. Dress appropriately for the weather. Bring water bottle, a picnic lunch and sun protection.

When: Monday, March 26, 2018

Time:  10:00 am - 12:oo pm

Where: Eidolon Preserve Parking Lot: 2146 Orleans Rd., Great Cacapon, WV

Price:  $6 per child. (No charge for adults) 

Theme: This program is a hike at Eidolon focusing on Forest Ecology. Students will learn about the lifespan and structure of trees, and how trees and animals depend upon each other. The hike will be guided by a PVAS Naturalist.

Please wear clothes appropriate for the weather and wear sturdy hiking shoes. Pack a water bottle, picnic lunch and sun protection. There will be a port-o-john at the parking lot for our comfort. 

To located Eidolon Preserve, please type is the physical address to Google maps: "2146 Orleans Rd., Great Cacapon, WV 25422". The main entrance at Eidolon has a turquoise metal gate which will be opened by the trip leader. We will park inside the preserve in the lower parking lot. If you type "Eidolon" into Google Maps you will probably get lost, as it does not give directions to the main Preserve entrance on Orleans Rd. 

Registration information

  • Pre-registration for this program is required.
  •  A minimum of 10 pre-paid students is needed to conduct the program. Fees are refundable if the program is cancelled by instructor or if a parent cancels their child's registration more than one week in advance of the program.

Inclement Weather

If inclement weather is in the forecast, you will be notified by e-mail either the day before the program or by 8:30 am on the day of the program.
