Please note that this trip has been rescheduled from Tuesday April 15 to Monday April 14 due to the weather forecast. Please meet at the Williamsport Visitor's Center at 9:00 a.m. MONDAY April 14.

Join Susan Fluharty as she bikes the C&O Canal in search of Virginia Bluebells!  We have scheduled this fun family event on April 15th with the hopes of catching the bluebell flowers in their peak blooming season.  As you bike along the towpath, there will be plenty of opportunities to park your bike and take pictures, admire the scenery and share some water and a snack.

The group will meet at the Williamsport Visitor's Center and then ride up to Dam 5, which was built before the Civil War and is 7 miles from the Visitor's Center.  The huge patches of bluebells are about 4 - 5 miles west of Williamsport. The ride to the Dam and back would make the trip a total of 14 miles.

Children are welcome however please make sure they are capable of biking the 14 miles round trip.  The C&O Canal is a family friendly biking path, however can at times be rough and muddy in places.  Please make sure both your bike and your child's bike has sturdy tires that can handle the elements.

Dress for the weather, bring your trail bike and feel free to bring along drinking water and a snack.  The trip may be canceled or postponed due to poor weather conditions.

The trip is free however preregistration is strongly encouraged.  If you have questions regarding the specifics of the trip, please feel free to contact Susan Fluharty at pemaquid@fluharty.org.
