PVAS will sponsor a general nature hike at the Eidolon Nature Preserve in Morgan County on Sunday, April 20.

The hike is part of this year's Morgan County Redbud Festival.

It will begin at 10:00 a.m. and be led by local Master Naturalist Mary Youngblood. It will be free and open to anyone with an interest. Children will be welcome. No pre-registration will be required.

The hike will focus on signs of spring. The Eidolon property, which is 354 acres in size, includes some impressive stands of redbuds and many different kinds of wildflowers. Migrating warblers should be arriving around this time.

The Preserve is located at the top of Sideling Hill Mountain, on Orleans Road, southwest of Great Cacapon. Detailed directions can be found on this website under Nature Preserves.

Hike participants should wear sturdy walking shoes or boots, dress appropriately for prevailing weather conditions, and bring along water and bug spray.
