  • Tuesday, September 09, 2014
  • 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Yankauer Nature Preserve and Stauffer's Marsh

When: Tuesday September 9, 2014                                  Time: 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.                                           Where: Yankauer Nature Preserve, Whiting's Neck Road (off Scrabble Road between Shepherdstown and Martinsburg.)

Stauffer's Marsh, Back Creek Valley Road (1/2 mile south of Shanghai)

Each year, the United Way of the Eastern Panhandle encourages adults to give back to the community.  Join other adult volunteers in a work day at Yankauer Nature Preserve or Stauffer's Marsh.  Projects include pulling Japanese Stilt Grass, cutting invasive trees such as Ailanthus or Autumn Olive, brush up the trails, and others.  Bring your own gloves and tools or use those that we have.  Dress to get dirty.  Sunscreen and insect repellent will be helpful.  Lunch is provided for our volunteers!

If you are interested in helping for even part of the day or would like more information, contact Nan Johnson for Yankauer (gabbyvanv@frontier.com), Melanie Snyder for Stauffer's Marsh (admin@potomacaudubon.org), Eldon Winston (eldon@winstongardens.org) or Kristin Alexander (kristin@potomacaudubon.org).
