May 14 Meeting Will Focus on Alaskan Birds

The Potomac Valley Audubon Society's May meeting will feature a presentation about birds of Alaska

The speaker will be Matt Orsie of Summit Point, one of the Eastern Panhandle's leading birders.

The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 14 at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service National Conservation Training Center on Shepherd Grade Road, just north of Shepherdstown. It will be held in the small auditorium (Room 151) of the Center's Instructional West Building.

The program is free and anyone is welcome to attend.

Orsie's talk will focus on a birding trip he took to Alaska last year. It will include an overview of the trip, a discussion of the native life on St. Lawrence Island, and a look at birds from the Gambell and Nome regions.

The meeting will also include the Society's annual business meeting. That portion of the meeting, which will be brief, will be devoted to the election of board members.
