"Parking Lot Patrol": Regularly (weekly/monthly) monitor the Yankauer parking lot and vicinity for trash. Pick up and pack out any trash you find. Wildlife Garden: Plan, plant and/or help maintain a wildlife garden demonstration project around the Yankauer pavilion. Construction Crew: Help with various construction projects at the Preserve such as sheds, a pavilion floor, new signs, benches, etc... Trail Team: Regularly (weekly/monthly) walk the trails and trim them as you go! Some guidelines must be followed, so some training is required, but it's a great excuse to get some exercise and enjoy the trails. Special projects such as creating "trail waysides" will also be involved. Weed Whackers: Help us battle the invasive species at the Preserve: multi-flora rose, ailanthus (aka: "Tree of Heaven"), Japanese stilt grass, garlic mustard, and more! Training is required for this job. Grant-writing and research: Are you someone who enjoys writing and/or surfing the web? We can always use help finding grant opportunities appropriate to our project at Yankauer, and we can always use some help with grant applications! Graphic Design: We have a grant to put up some new interpretive signs at the Preserve, but we need a volunteer who can artistically design the signs with graphics and text. The text is written and some graphics chosen, they just need to be put together artfully and made into a cohesive design for the trail. If any of these projects sound interesting to you, please contact Kristin Alexander at PVASmail (at the domain) aol.com or 676-3397 for more details.
