Before college, John worked for the National Park Service in the tri-state and later in the Great Smoky Mountains in conservation and historic interpretation. He then pursued an Associate’s Degree at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College, studying environmental science and microbiology. This led him to the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium in Florida. After coming back into the area, he worked at a Water Treatment plant doing water chemistry. John likes the noises of music and the silence of nature. He keeps and cares for pets including fish, snakes, a pet mouse and a dog.
