Maryland’s state flower is a short-lived perennial that readily reseeds itself. The bright yellow flowers with the black centers will liven up the garden in August. The plant reaches 1- 2’ in sunny/part shade regular garden soil. It is a larval host for several butterflies. It is highly deer resistant.
