4th of July Parade, Picnic & Storywalk® in Shepherdstown

Come celebrate Independence Day with PVAS by marching in the Shepherdstown 4th of July parade!
The parade will form on Church Street, then proceed down German Street to Princess Street and end there. Find us along Church Street any time after 10:30. If you have trouble finding us, ask one of the parade coordinators for help. Bring your binoculars, PVAS or camp t-shirt, a favorite stuffed animal to represent the critters we strive to protect, and/or whatever else you feel best represents PVAS.
After the parade, you are invited to attend Rotary’s 4th of July community picnic. The picnic will be held from 12 to 3:00 pm at Morgan’s Grove Park. There will be no fee for the picnic and no need to register in advance; just show up and enjoy yourself. Both the parade and picnic are sponsored by the Rotary Club of Shepherdstown. The goal is to provide festive, wholesome, family-oriented entertainment for the entire town.
While at the picnic, you can enjoy a StoryWalk® provided by PVAS! A StoryWalk® is a great way for people of all ages to enjoy reading while spending time outdoors! Pages from a storybook will be attached to signs placed along a trail so people can gradually read the story as they walk through nature. The story at the community picnic is My America, written by Jan Spivey Gilchrist and illustrated by Ashley Bryan.
The picnic will include children’s activities and live music. The Rotary Club will be selling hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and non-alcoholic beverages. All proceeds from those sales will be used to help cover event costs.
We hope to see you there!
No need to register, just show up on Thursday, July 4th in your red, white, and blue! If you have any questions or would like additional information, please contact us at info@PotomacAudubon.org.
