Join KC to learn about National Audubon’s community science project, Climate Watch!

PVAS Host: KC Walters

Free and open to the public. For ages 16 and older. All youth must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required and limited to 5 participants.

PVMN Continuing Education Credit Eligible

Join Associate Director of Conservation and Operations KC Walters as she conducts our annual summer Climate Watch survey of the Cool Spring area. She will show you just how EASY and FUN it is to participate in this important community science research.

You can find more information on Climate Watch at https://www.audubon.org/community-science/climate-watch, but essentially, the project involves observing birds in your area and reporting your findings in order to generate data on how birds are responding to climate change.

This is an outdoor training. Please register to participate. If you have any questions, contact KC at katelyn@potomacaudubon.org

  • Walking Distance: ~2 miles
  • Pace/Activities: Leisurely (meandering, many breaks to stop and observe)
  • Exposure: Mostly forested with canopy cover
  • Terrain: Earthen trail with some hilly, rocky sections that could be slippery when wet, mostly flat, some gentle slopes
  • Restroom: Port-o-pot in the parking lot
  • Parking/Where to Meet: Meet in the Case Nature Center main parking lot.
  • What to Bring: Please wear sturdy walking shoes, bring along drinking water, and dress for the weather. Binoculars will be available for anyone who needs them.
