Insect Safari at Cool Spring Preserve

Tuesday, August 9, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
PVAS Host: Allen Miller, Certified Master Naturalist
PVMN Continuing Education Eligible

Come Along on PVAS’s Insect Safari!

Allen Miller is excited to share his passion of insects and spiders during his two-part evening; “Insect Safari” and “Spider Verse” (registration for “Spider Verse” is separate)
This program will be packed with interesting facts and fun! Participants will learn from each other while actively participating and engaging in the activities.  Basic information will be covered; you’ll observe insects around the preserve, learn what makes an insect an insect and life cycles and habitats will be discussed. The group will then explore a few insects more in depth.  Allen will be guiding the activity and then the group can all learn together.
Please feel free to bring along any insect field guides and App’s on your phone that you have.
We encourage you to stay for ‘Spider Verse’ which Allen Miller will host at Cool Spring Preserve from 8:30-9:30pm

Allen Miller was a teacher for 35 years where he spent a large chunk of that time teaching science.  Allen is a Morgan County WV residence and currently, a seasonal naturalist at Cacapon Resort State Park.  He is a Master Naturalist member in the 2021 cohort. Allen will be guiding the activity and then we all can learn together.

Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring along drinking water and insect repellent. When you arrive at the preserve parking lot, please head down the hill to the back deck of the Nature Center where the group will gather for the start of the program.
