This month is all about ornithology. Students will become bird experts as they study bird adaptations such as feathers, wings and beak shape. We’ll go on bird watching hikes and scavenger hunts, dissect owl pellets, and even build bird feeders from recycled materials. For the last class of the month, students will compete in the “Bird Olympics” to compare their skills to those of our feathered friends.

Cool Spring Nature Preserve

PVAS’s Outdoor School is a great opportunity for your child (ages 5-10) to participate in hands-on, experiential learning. Each class consists of a thematic nature lesson, a hike, and nature exploration. Reading, writing, art and math are all incorporated into our nature lessons. Sessions are held once-a-week for a month. Sessions will be kept small; 12 kids total with two adult instructors.  Click here to learn more.
