Discover the marvelous world of moths from local moth expert Kathy Barylski! Moths are among the most diverse and successful organisms on earth and scientists estimate there are 150,000 to more than 500,000 moth species. There is much to learn about moths, and Kathy is eager to share her knowledge and passion!
The program will begin with a talk about these marvelous creatures! The evening will continue with lightsheeting/mothing to explore the various moth species active at Cool Spring Preserve!
- Walking Distance: Little to no walking. This program will take place on the back deck of the Case Nature Center.
- Restroom: Indoor, flushing restrooms are available in the Case Nature Center.
- Parking/Where to Meet: Participants should meet at the back deck (just down from the parking lot, at the bottom of the stairs) of the Nature Center.
- What to Bring: We recommend wearing long sleeves and pants to avoid wearing bug spray, as we do not want to repel the moths! We also recommend wearing dark colors (light colors will glow in the mothing lights and moths will be attracted to people wearing light colors!)
Registration will remain open until the start of the program.
If the required minimum # of people do not register by 4 pm the evening prior, the program will be cancelled.
