LOCATION CHANGE | Wellness Walk at the C&O Canal Towpath near Weverton Cliffs

Wednesday, August 6, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Note that this program was originally listed as taking place at the Dargan Bend area of the C&O Canal Towpath, but has been changed to the Weverton Cliff area.

Let’s get outside and enjoy the trails together!

PVAS Host: Ellen Murphy

Free and open to the public. All ages are welcome, though youth must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required and limited to 15 participants. This program has a minimum of 5 participants.

Join us for our August Wellness Walk along the scenic C&O Canal, beginning at the Weverton Cliff area. This peaceful, shaded stretch of the historic towpath offers a cool (ish) retreat during the heat of summer, with lush greenery, views of the Potomac River, and plenty of opportunities to unwind in nature. Dogs are welcome, and we especially encourage newcomers to join us—this is a great way to connect with others while soaking in the sounds and sights of the season. Let’s get outside together!

  • Walking Distance: Approximately 2 miles or less.
  • Pace/Activities: Moderate (steady but able to maintain a conversation)
  • Exposure: Mostly shaded
  • Terrain: Asphalt and gravel The route is generally flat.
  • Restroom: Restrooms are available near the parking area.
  • Parking/Where to Meet:
Take 340 North (toward Frederick), across both bridges. Just across the Potomac bridge, Exit right onto Keep Tryst Rd and continue on that road to a dead end (sort of a circle)–it’s not terribly far, just keep going. Parking for the Canal Towpath is along the side of the road (but it is out of the way of any traffic).
If you are coming from the Boonsboro area, taking Rohrersville Road will take you directly to Route 340 north. The first turn off on 340 is (the other end of) Keep Tryst Rd–it’s a road more than an actual exit. You are right there where we are meeting.
  • What to Bring: Dress for the weather, bring water, and wear sturdy shoes!

Register Here!

Registration will remain open until the start of the program.

If the required minimum # of people do not register by 4 pm the evening prior, the program will be cancelled.
