The Monarch Alliance works to educate our community about the vulnerable Monarch Butterfly, including its lifecycle, contributions to the ecosystem, and spectacular migration.
About Us
The Monarch Alliance (TMA) is a volunteer-led conservation initiative of the Potomac Valley Audubon Society (PVAS). We proudly serve Jefferson, Berkeley, and Morgan Counties in West Virginia, as well as, Washington County, Maryland.
Our primary goal is to educate our community about the vulnerable Monarch Butterfly, including its lifecycle, contributions to the ecosystem, and spectacular migration. Our volunteers give presentations to community groups and organizations upon request and also spend time at various local fairs and festivals.
Every year, TMA awards grants in the form of plants to community organizations in our service area for the creation of Monarch Waystations. These are special pollinator gardens that include native milkweed plants for Monarchs.
TMA also holds two native plant sales each year with our partners at Sunny Meadows Garden Center. Experts are available at these sales to answer questions about Monarchs and pollinator plants and provide gardening advice.
