Habitat Highlights: Rise Meadow (a four part series)

Presenter: Rita Hennessy

Join Rita Hennessy on Mondays in September as she takes us through a virtual tutorial of her meadow. From the first video where she discusses the basics of establishing a meadow, the history of her meadow and things to consider when planning your own meadow through the final video of what her meadow looks like at 8 years old. Rita shares valuable resources and tidbits of information that are useful to anyone considering a meadow in their own yard.

Join us every Monday in September for a step-by-step, educational tutorial on meadows!

The videos will be posted on PVAS’s Facebook page as well as PVAS’s YouTube Channel.

Rita grew up in New England, and has always held a love of the outdoors. She’s lived in 11 states across the country working for non profit conservation organizations and the National Park Service with a focus on National Trails.
Rita moved to West Virginia with her husband, Sean, in 1993. For 20 years they lived across the street from an open area they observed being developed over time. Rita dreamed of restoring a native meadow one day…
They found their dream property in 2010 for a passive and active solar house, as well as a meadow. Since then Rita has taken multiple classes with professionals in meadow restoration- Larry Weaner, Doug Tallamy, Rick Dark, and Katherine Zimmerman. With 8 years of firsthand experience, Rita is sharing her story.
Rita is a graduate of Sterling College, the University of Montana, and Antioch McGregor
