StoryWalk® at Cool Spring Preserve

Saturday, July 4 @ 8:00 am - Sunday, July 12 @ 6:00 pm

Enjoy a storybook on a nature walk at Cool Spring Preserve!

PVAS Host: Susannah Olsen

Free and open to the public. All ages are welcome, though youth must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is not required

A StoryWalk® is a great way for people of all ages to enjoy reading while spending time outdoors! Pages from a storybook will be attached to signs placed along a trail so people can gradually read the story as they walk the trail. This StoryWalk® will be spread over a trail length of no more than 1/4 mile.

The story at Cool Spring Preserve is Fireflies, Fireflies, Light My Way, written by Jonathan London and illustrated by Linda Messier.

Cool Spring Preserve is open daily from dawn to dusk.

  • Walking Distance: Less than a quarter mile
  • Pace/Activities: Self-paced
  • Exposure: Some areas are covered by forest canopy, some areas are open.
  • Terrain: Hard ground/hiking trail in some areas, mowed grass in other areas. Gentle slopes/rolling hills
  • Restroom: Indoor, flushing restrooms are available when the Case Nature Center is open (Wednesday, 9:30 am – 3 pm). There is a Port-a-Potty available during other hours.
  • Parking/Where to Meet: Cool Spring Preserve, which is open from dawn to dusk, has about 20 parking spaces. The StoryWalk® will be along the trails behind the Case Nature Center.
