Master Naturalist Allen Miller will talk about West Virginia’s wonderful woodpeckers! You will hear different woodpecker calls, learn about their behaviors, and discover interesting facts about what makes the different types unique from each other. After that, we will go on a 45 minute walk to see if we can see or hear them. Bring your binoculars, and we will have a few to share!

  • Walking Distance: About 1 mile or less.
  • Pace: Leisurely (meandering, many breaks to stop and observe)
  • Exposure: Some areas are covered by forest canopy, some areas are open.
  • Terrain: Hard ground/hiking trail in some areas, mowed grass in other areas.
  • Restroom: Indoor, flushing restrooms will be available.
  • Parking/Where to Meet: After parking in the gravel lot, go through the main entrance/top floor of the Case Nature Center right next to the parking lot.
  • What to Bring: Bring your binoculars, we will have a few to share.
Register Here!
